Abstract

The present study addresses the relationship between cognitive fatigue symptoms and intensive technology use among university students. A qualitative systematic review was conducted to integrate the most recent theoretical and empirical findings regarding the effects of excessive technology use on cognitive, emotional, and psychosomatic processes. For this purpose, articles indexed between 2015 and 2024 were collected from international academic databases such as Scopus, PsycINFO, PubMed, Scielo, and RedALyC. Evidence indicates that prolonged screen exposure and digital multitasking increase levels of mental fatigue, stress, and psychosomatic symptoms, affecting emotional regulation and academic performance. Finally, the clinical implications of these findings are discussed, along with the need to implement preventive strategies, technological addiction management, and cognitive-behavioral interventions within the university context.
